In 2009 I created this website to help rescue a beautiful Moon Bear from its horrific life on a bear-bile farm. Like thousands of other Moon Bears across Asia, it was living a life of torture, imprisoned in a tiny cage and being regularly milked for its bile via extremely crude and unhygienic extraction methods. The extracted bile is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In 1998 Jill Robinson founded the Animals Asia Foundation to rescue and rehabilitate these bears and for many years I have supported its work. Animals Asia now operates two Moon Bear sanctuaries, one in China and the other in Vietnam.
In November 2009 I decided to do something more substantial so I committed to the rescue and ongoing care of one of Animals Asia's bears. I set up Adoptamoonbear.com and, in just over twelve months, with the help of many people like you, raised the required $14,500 to assist Animals Asia rescue and begin the rehabilitation of a lovely young male bear in Vietnam.
Today Jigsaw is enjoying his new life at Animals Asia's bear sanctuary situated in the Tam Dao National Park, a few hours from Hanoi, Vietnam, free from the pain and suffering of his past!
When Animals Asia rescues a bear, it commits to the bear's care for the term of its natural life. Our continued sponsorship supports Animals Asia in honouring this commitment to our cheeky, fun-loving Jigsaw.

Hi everyone!
We can’t believe it!! Finally the 101 bears of Nanning have made it Home to Animals Asia’s sanctuary in Chengdu after 8 long years of negotiations and delays. They travelled almost 800 miles by truck to a new peace-filled life, surrounded by bear buddies, healthy food and …. grass !! Something none of them had ever experienced.
If this isn’t a big enough story Animals Asia now has a location for, and will soon start building, its 2nd sanctuary in Vietnam to help accommodate all the bears remaining on bear-bile farms but who must be surrendered by end of 2023.
So please if you are moved to support Jigsaw, now is the time to help him be a Zero Cost Bear – that is a bear that doesn’t cost Animals Asia money to keep because we cover ALL his costs at the sanctuary.

Hi Everyone! It was a very strange year for everyone – and not a particularly easy one for you, my human family. I hope that next year is a happier and brighter one for everybody.
We bears were very well looked after all year and ten bears were rescued – despite Covid restrictions – and are now happily enjoying their new lives.
I would love any support you can give me to help FINISH my puzzle before New Year’s Eve! I still have a ways to go!!!
